How articles get researched and written

Every guide starts from a real, specific question — often one a member of the team has actually asked themselves while living with a dog or a cat. We research from primary sources where they exist (shelter and rescue guidance, published welfare organizations, our own direct experience), and we say plainly when something is our opinion rather than an established fact. We don’t generate articles from keyword lists with no lived understanding of the topic behind them.

Fact-checking and review

Every practical guide is read by at least one other person on the Paw Province team before it goes live — not just for typos, but to check that the advice is sound and that nothing overstates what we actually know. Founder and editor Alex Moreau edits every guide published on the site. You can see who wrote and who is credited on any article at the top of the page, and read more about each byline on our Authors page.

Expert review, honestly labeled

We are building relationships with veterinarians, trainers, and behaviourists to review specific pieces of content going forward. Where that has genuinely happened, we say so on the article, by name, with what they reviewed. We will never label an article “expert reviewed” without a named, real person who actually reviewed it — no invented credentials, no vague “our team of experts” framing to imply authority we don’t have.

Our stance against fabricated reviews and fake expertise

We won’t publish a product review we didn’t actually form an opinion on, and we won’t attach a professional credential to a byline that doesn’t hold it. If Tested & Loved recommends something, it’s because someone on the team lived with it. See our Affiliate Disclosure for how that recommendation is kept separate from any commercial relationship.

Corrections

When we get something wrong, we fix it. Factual corrections are made directly in the article, and for anything beyond a minor wording fix, the article’s “Updated” date is revised to reflect the change. We don’t quietly rewrite history on substantive claims. If you spot an error, please tell us — see Contact or email hello@pawprovince.com with the article URL and what looks wrong.
